About the final project for: Self-Portrait as a Personal Diary

Self-Portrait as a Personal Diary

“We have reached the end of this road. I hope you liked my point of view when doing this type of photography. It is very important to me that you understand that this course is made to inspire and to show other ways of taking photography in intimate life. Each one will find their way and the language that works best for them, my way is just one example of how to get results that have worked very well for me so far. However, as these are very personal projects, each one must find their way. Trial and error to arrive at the ideal solution! Remember that to take photos of this style, you must be very connected with yourself and with what motivates you to take this type of photography. For this it is good that you write texts about your motives and feelings. It is also important to understand that it is a process of trial and error, you must try many things before you find your way to represent yourself. There are always at least 3 elements that must be working in harmony for the photo to work: space, light and acting. I have a very specific way of taking my self-portraits, I take them in time, in trips and situations that inspire me, but this does not mean that you should do it that way. You can create situations in more controlled environments, recreate specific and acted scenes, use artificial lighting, costumes or whatever your imagination takes you. Now is your time, share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your photos and the steps that have led you to them. We are going to review the key phases of the project. It would be great if you showed me a picture of each phase and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. Inspiration and concept Answer the key questions about what you want to tell, so you will have clearer your ideas and what you want to convey in your photos. Next, make your mood board for reference. In my case I made a general one, one for the location, one for lighting and another for manual intervention.

Shooting After preparing your project, you have to find the location for your photography. Then it's time for action! Put aside the shyness and take your self-portrait. It would be great if you did it in the two ways we saw in Unit 3: a self-portrait taking the photo yourself and a self-portrait with the help of another person.
Editing and intervention Following the tips that I gave you in Unit 4, select the photos that you like the most among the ones you have taken. Then edit them and give them a final touch that is just yours! It would also be great for you to share if you have made an intervention in any of your photos, it sure has been a very enriching experience.
It has been a pleasure to do this course with you, I have always thought that teaching you learn more. Having to transmit all this information has made me understand my way of working a little more thoroughly, which reminds me that everything is always a process where we are learning something new all the time. I'm very happy to see your evolution, just have a little patience! Remember that in addition to teaching, I have a lot of work in the field of fashion which I must attend to, however, I promise to watch and comment little by little on your progress in the forum. It is very enriching if all the people who take this course can see the work of their colleagues and are encouraged to make constructive comments and criticisms. Thus our vision will be enriched with different points of view, in addition the dialogue always leads to a better understanding of our own work. So don't be shy, jump into commenting on the photos of others and respond to the comments that others leave you, this will make our learning process much more fun! ”

“Final project We're at the end of this Domestika course. I hope you've learned how to create a series of self-portraits centered on your intimate life. Before saying goodbye, I'd like to summarize all the steps we took to make our project. First, we saw how young photographers from around the world make self-portrait, intimate life, and storytelling projects. From them, we learned there are different paths to take to carry out a project. You've learned the key questions to ask yourself before starting your project. We saw how to organize references using a mood board and how to use the mate...”
