“MATERIALITY As we saw in previous lessons and in our final project, we were very clear from the get-go about our materials. First, we removed the dropped ceilings on the site. We discovered that the framing was made of ceramic vaults and metal beams. That's when we knew we wanted the framing to keep its original look. Taking these ceilings down made us realize we could recover the elegance in those arched entrances leading to the main facade. We chose the rest of the materials together with the client. After cofounding Nook Architects, where she has also managed projects for over ten years, as well as creating the Zamness coworking spaces, she is beginning a new professional chapter in which her projects will be based on neuroarchitecture and bioconstruction.
Ana is a Barcelona-born architect who specializes in designing spaces built for both living and working. She adapts each of her projects to the characteristics of the space in question, reassessing their role according to the needs of the inhabitants to achieve healthy spaces centered around well-being and comfort. Her work goes hand in hand with teaching and she currently directs a Master's in interior urban spaces at the LCI Barcelona.
