About the final project for: Illustrated Vignettes: Stories That Go Beyond the Screen

x To illustrate is to narrate

“We have reached the end of this course! I hope everything you've learned has inspired you to start creating your own visual narratives. Next, we are going to review the different steps to follow to develop your final project so that you can create your own vignettes for Instagram. The story! Choose an experience from your past (near or far) that has moved you. From that memory, I wrote it simply in four sentences. Try writing the same sequence in a different way, it can be a poem or a list. Play with other ways of writing it, what if I do it in question form? What if I make the sentences rhyme Choose the script that you like the most. It is important that it be brief: that is, that it can be separated into 4 lines of few words. I wrote a title.

What will your character be like? Now, design a character for your script. You can try, as I did, different morphologies and designs until you find one that seems suitable for you.
Your character! If you already have your choice, you can play around with your character a bit. Try drawing it in different positions.
The storyboard To illustrate the script, make a small storyboard in pencil that includes the texts, in which you can have a general analysis of points of view, framing, vignette design. Once you have defined, trace them in a size that is comfortable for you (I use a4 with 9.5 x 9.5 cm vignettes) and ink them using different brushes and markers, as we saw in the course.
The last details! Scan the illustrations and retouch them in Photoshop. I chose a limited palette to apply to the entire sequence. You already have your illustrated sequence ready, now you can publish it on Instagram.
And so, we have reached the end of the course. I hope you enjoyed the process as much as I did and that this way of working inspires you to create your own narrated sequences. To make your project, I invite you to forget a bit about my own experience and dive into your memory to find images and memories that motivate you. I propose that you make friends with your line, each one has his way of drawing, do not try to imitate the work of others. Any questions, you can write to me, I will answer you although I ask you for a little patience (I am quite dedicated to my projects and my family). See you soon!”

“Final project We have reached the end of the course. I hope you had as much fun as I did. I want to remind you that all this it was a method that I personally use to make my strips and that I wanted to transmit it to you as a tool so that you can make it your own with your style and with your stroke. Remember that there is no one way to do things, that this is not a single truth and that you can use any of the advice that I gave you to enhance your own image and your own way of seeing the world. You can work with the materials you have at home, using even photos or any other way to represen...”
