Grab your crochet hook to make and embellish an adorable fish design using yarn and sequins, with these downloadable instructions
Crochet is both a meditative and creative outlet: and while you will need a hook, you won’t need bait to start crocheting your own sea life-inspired accessories.
By combining her love for crochet and the sea, Estonian designer Marianne Seiman (@heegeldab) creates custom accessories for shops, craft magazines, and international clients. Here, she shares a free PDF fish crochet pattern for you to make at home.

What do I need to crochet fish and sea life?
If you’re a lover of nature and especially the marine world, we’ve got the perfect pattern to create new decorative pieces for your home. In her course, Marianne shows you how to create all types of sea life and use them to make accessories and homeware.

Here’s what you’ll need to crochet a fish design.
For crocheting, you’ll need:
1. 100% cotton yarn
2. A crochet hook
3. Scissors

After you’ve crocheted the basic body shape for your fish, you can add “scales” made from sequins, beads, or both. Where possible, look for sustainable and ocean-friendly ones so your homemade fish is a friend to real fish!
For embellishing, you’ll need:
1. Sequins and small beads
2. Thread
3. A sewing needle
For shaping the body, you’ll need:
1. White glue, like PVA
2. Water
3. A cup or jar and something to stir with
