Janet Carlson

My name is Janet Carlson and my college degree and career were in fashion design within the Miami garment industry from 1980 until 2007. As a fashion designer I enjoyed the experience of working with border and engineered panel prints. I have always had a love/ fascination with fabrics, and working as a designer helped me to visualize how the fabrics work out made up into garments. What we choose to wear expresses our unique individuality, our confidence and our lifestyle.
In 2005, I started the transition into graphic design, learning Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.
In 2011, I began creating digital paper collages, which was influenced by my hobby of quilting and love of folk art. I have been selling my collages as Print on Demand.
In 2016, I enrolled with the Textile Design Lab, began sublimation printing my own designs on fabric and created a men's board shorts line that I offer on Etsy.
My style is heavily influenced by the coastal/ international scene in South Florida, where bright colors and sportswear is popular.
