I have always sewn both by hand and machine. I make quilts but also do lots of hand embroidery. I base my work on nature around me. I have made a lot of quilts, mainly hand appliqué in the Baltimore style, over the last 25 years. Since I fell and broke my wrist I have had to look for other creative outlets and been doing free machine embroidery where I draw a design on fabric with Inktense pencils and then embroider over the drawing. I recently made a rope basket to hold my hand embroidery threads but would like know how to do this more elegantly.
