I have always been interested in drawing and painting but other than some sporadic (but consistent) experimentation with making art I have never given it a lot of time or focus. I am very newly an empty nester with more space in my life and am hoping some study of technique will propel me forward in making art. I have mostly used water color and most recently water color pencils, but also tried a bit with oils and acrylic years ago. I am not a natural drawer but do feel good at times about my use of color. I share some of the interests of the teacher; I have loved Egon Shiele's work for years and recently started following the Cy Twombly hashtag on instagram and enjoy the work that shows up there. I adore kid art, strong use of color and work with abstract and realistic representation together. I took a figure drawing class a few years ago and unfortunately felt very self-conscious and stopped after a few classes. I want to learn to paint with oils or acrylics ultimately, for my own pleasure but also perhaps to share with others.
