Alivia Biko

I am a visual artist and a singer/songwriter recording artist. I am originally from Wisconsin, USA, lived for 20 years in Oregon, USA. Now I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA with my spouse and our multi-generational family. I have built a tiny clay studio here and am enjoying figuring out how best to use my tiny space. I started making pottery my junior year of high school (1975). I felt like I had found my calling! After high school I apprenticed to a professional potter for 6 months then moved to Ohio to start my own pottery. I lived out in the country in an old farmhouse with wood heat in one room only. After losing many pots to the cold and needing an actual income. I gave up hoping to make a living from pottery. A decade later I took college pottery courses. Then, in about 2015, when I retired from pastoring and teaching, I took some more pottery classes in the college where I had been teaching. I fell in love all over again. I have made 4 kilns, 2 studios and a few pots along the way. I am still learning and I love it.
I also draw & paint with graphite, watercolors and acrylics.
