My passion is to work as a Costume Designer. It has taken me a while to figure out what I wanted to do, but the pull towards clothes, history, art, textiles and performance has won as it seems I cannot live without some kind of drama in my life. I also like the idea of collaboration which I understand is at the heart of work in the Costume Department. I have worked in different fields and in many different countries, so I have experience of fitting into various scenarios and working with all kinds of people. I have some experience of the fashion industry as I worked for a milliner and I was an intern for some independent London labels- one of them making costumes for drag performances. I also completed a Btec in Fashion and Clothing at Kensington and Chelsea College where I learnt the whole of the design process.
I also have experience working with text as I studied Russian and German at the University of Oxford and my degree had a big literature component. I read and discussed classics such as Dostoyevsky, Chekhov, Mann and Kafka as well as more older works such as the writings of Martin Luther and Church Slavonic texts. I am currently part of a Writers’ Group in London where we write fiction and discuss our work.
I am curious and enthusiastic and would love any opportunity to use my creative skills.
