Russell Bennett

I am Russell. I live in Upper East Tennessee in the Johnson City Area.

I have been an art instructor for 27 years at all levels. I have been teaching at my current high school level for 17 years. I have taught in all mediums: ceramics, painting, printmaking, design, some digital, drawing, and AP Studio students. My teaching inspirations are numerous. From my dad, many high schools teachers, college professors, and artist peers.

As an artist, I have had a number of one-man shows and participated in many group shows over the years. I have been influenced from a young age by comic books (my love of figure drawing), Pop and Culture (particular TIKI), Dali (the his technical skill and shamelessness as promoter), Chuck Close (his ability to overcome...I love grids!), and so much more! I love faces, portraits, etc.

As advocate, I have served as President of the Tennessee Art Education Association and other roles in that organization in the past, I have been recognized as Art Teacher of the Year for Tennessee, Advocate Award by Alabama Art Education Association, and Art Leadership Award by our local art guild.
