Sonya Pegg

I am British Jamaican and was born in London but I have been brought up in Christchurch New Zealand, I had my children when I resided back in the Midlands in England at the turn of this century. We are all now settled in New Zealand. I have creatives in my family - my son and his father are singers and songwriters, and my daughter is an actress, singer and competitive gymnast, my partner is an artist who also works as a project manager for a consultancy company. I am a writer and filmmaker interested in learning all aspects of bringing together a successful project. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Film. I love art, and costume. In my first film as a student I had to research and create all of my own costumes for the characters, it is something that I find great joy doing, from the research to the design, to the creation. It's a wonderful satisfying process. As a writer, I visualise each character as I write, in their full range of costumes, they are real to me. That is how I work. I hope to find like minds and be able to keep creating and eventually be able to survive on just my film work alone, be it as a designer, or as a writer and filmmaker. I love period films but also love sensitive films that tell stories about the small moments that enlighten everyday life.
