Naked rage

I created a design of a woman, ashamed of herself and covering herself, but within that was her raw and naked self hiding away, covered by the flames and rage of her hair.

I have always resonated with the naked female body because of all the layers of complexity there are too it. The female body is associated with shame, beauty, life.
I decided I wanted to do a piece that captures all these concepts in one & narrates the effects that this can have on a female.

I found some images off Pinterest that worked well with my concept, & played around with them on pro create. Eventually i narrowed it down to 3 pictures & set them up in a way that worked best. I traced over that layer & then made final tweaks to the design and certain details.

So I printed out my stencil on some stencil paper, using a thermal printer. I then prepped my fake skin and stuck the stencil down. Waited a while for it to dry, then I got to work, working from the bottom upwards. I completed all the line work & important reference points first, before moving onto the details and what makes the tattoo come to life. When I did finally move onto shading, I used my black ink + black ink with some distilled water to create a small grey washed stipple effect ever so slightly. Then I moved onto the hair with the magnum shader to see how I could achieve a fire/ smoke like effect.
