I chose the International Children Film's Festival as I already knew the films and love how colours are used in those films. I first went and got some screen grabs to select a colour range, which I then refined and chose a final selection to work with.

In my research, I found that all the films explore themes and emotions that resonate with audiences of all ages, transcending cultural boundaries, they are set in fantastical and whimsical worlds filled with magic, wonder, and enchantment. Their timeless appeal lies in their ability to capture the magic of childhood, celebrate the power of imagination, and remind audiences of the importance of love, courage, and resilience.
It was important to me to incorporate these attributes into my design, so I asked myself, how this could be done. After looking at the many drawings I received from my niece and nephews, I realised that a children's drawing captures these attributes perfectly. I wanted my posters to resemble children's drawings, but still have a distinct "grown-up" style. Simple lines, hand drawn, not perfect, but more or less showing great proportions, perspectives and details.
As children's films always have a playful characteristic to them, I also wanted to include that aspect. Inspired by the book "Film in Five Seconds" by Matteo Civaschi and Gianmarco Milesi, I decided to use important symbols and items from the films on the posters. To make it even more playful and entertaining for the viewer, I merged the typography with the drawings to create the objects.
