The city I chose is Lansing, Michigan. Lansing is the capital of the state of Michigan in the United States. A hundred miles southeast of Lansing, as Henry Ford invented the assembly line for manufacturing horseless carriages, R.E. Olds and Billy Durant were building automobiles in Lansing. Many people are not aware of the role Lansing played, and continues to play, in the automotive industry.
From Oldsmobile to Buick to Chevrolet to finally the formation of General Motors, R.E. Olds and Billy Durant built factories in Lansing, creating some of the most popular American-made automobiles.
Lansing still has multiple General Motors plants and feeder plants which employ many residents. With it's manufacturing focus, Lansing is a blue-color, hard-working city. It is not known for its frills. Although it is the state capital and is beginning to attract more interest in public arts, it is still very much known for manufacturing.
As part of the Motorcities National Heritage Area, an affiliate of the National Park Service, car buffs come to Lansing from all over the world. For this project, I chose to research automotive brands that began in Lansing.
Shapes - Clean lines, solid rectangles are adapted from many of the federal-style governmental buildings in the downtown area. Two rectangles become the L in Lansing in a number of graphic patterns. The lugnut icon is a connection between the auto and the worker who secures it. It is small but mighty in its role. The Lansing minor league baseball team is known as the Lugnuts.
Color - I chose an industrial palette. Although blue was natural to reflect the 'blue-color' workers it looked too corporate. Instead, I went with rust and black as a nod to the longevity, strength, and masculinity of the automotive workforce. The addition of the chrome gradient adds another dimension and symbolizes the shiny chrome of well-loved automobiles.
Heritage - The crest and arrow were a merging of elements from the Durant Start Motors and Oldsmobile brand logos. These were two of the brands originally founded in Lansing. The crest symbolizes achievements and the arrow, movement, hope, and a positive driving force.

Ce cercetare profundă și informativă ai făcut, bravo. Puncte în plus pentru că ai analizat ceva aparent „neatrăgător” și l-ai reinterpretat pentru a-i scoate la iveală frumusețea ascunsă.
O paletă de culori eficientă, foarte masculină și legată de industria auto.
De asemenea, este interesant că ai luat inițiativa de a lucra și la branding (stema), deși nu pot să-mi exprim cu adevărat opinia despre asta, deoarece vrem să ne concentrăm mai degrabă pe modele.
Ai lucrat bine la modelele abstracte, demonstrând o mare încredere în utilizarea legilor gestaltiste ale percepțiilor.
Nu sunt prea încântat de șurub. Am senzația că stilul său (ilustrativ, cu gradienții) nu se potrivește cu stilul celorlalte modele (culori solide, abstracte). Din punct de vedere al proporțiilor, acele șuruburi sunt puțin prea predominante, aproape că distrag atenția.
Cred că ai gestionat bine modelele geometrice (cum ar fi cele din suporturile de pahare și din cutia de ceai) și pot observa o mulțime de referințe vizuale interesante. Totuși, s-ar putea să fie nevoie să lucrezi mai mult la ierarhie și la consecvența vizuală a întregului set.
Ai putea începe prin a renunța la șurub, deoarece celelalte modele transmit deja acea senzație de utilaje industriale grele, datorită geometriei puternice și culorilor masculine.
Apoi aș elimina modelul roșu de pe fundul caietului (se repetă după cutia de ceai). Mai e nevoie de puțină muncă la penar, e frumoasă ideea marcajelor de drum, dar stilistic trebuie să le faci să funcționeze cu celelalte modele, deoarece toate ar trebui să aparțină aceleiași familii. Nu e ușor, dar cu toții avem nevoie de provocări pentru a ne îmbunătăți. Tu, Connie, ai demonstrat bunăvoință pentru a face designul tău solid, ai creat o narațiune bună, ai explorat modele interesante. Acum e timpul să faci ca modelele tale să comunice între ele. Continuă, te descurci bine :-)
