“Apollo 17 was the final mission of NASA's Apollo program and the last mission in which humans traveled and walked on the Moon. However, in 1976, the secret Apollo 18 mission began, in which a single astronaut traveled to the Moon to investigate a strange structure. Sadly, contact was lost after landing, and nothing was known about the Apollo 18 mission until now, when some original negatives were recovered.”

This series of portraits of a shipwrecked astronaut abandoned on the moon and rescued by aliens had been on my mind for a long time.

I photographed the astronaut on set, with the images I wanted to create in mind and the idea of building a 3D lunar set, but I found the Apollo Project Archive on flickr, with thousands of original high-resolution images from the Apollo missions and finally made all the final key images with the original scanned files.

A dream come true!
