Dafne Fortea

My name is Dafne. I am a drawing teacher at a public secondary school. I studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and later completed a Master's in Art and Image Technology Research. I develop my artistic practice alongside my teaching work, moving between painting and illustration.
My influences come primarily from the world of modern painting: Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, William Turner, Paul Cézanne and Hilma af Klint. I have a deep affinity for Abstract Expressionism, particularly the work of women artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell and Martha Jungwirth.
In the field of contemporary illustration, I am especially drawn to the work of Paula Bonet, Conrad Roset, Esmé Shapiro, Marc Majewski, Andrea Serio, Monica Barengo and Ilaria Zanellato.
I am here to bring my work into the field of illustration in a more spontaneous way, and to approach narrative projects with greater freedom. My next personal goal is to develop my own narrative illustration project.
