Hi, I am Ali, also known as @3dottedpenguins. I am an Austrian printmaker & surface pattern designer based in Zurich, Switzerland.

An engineer by education but a lifetime creative, I found my true passion when stumbling upon block printing in 2018. Since then, I have been creating repeat patterns, quirky fishes, and other (maritime) designs through the slow and meditative process of stamp carving and block printing. I love to take my block-printed designs - which I typically create on paper - and translate them into screen prints or vectorize/digitize them to become seamless repeat patterns for surface designs.

I am a firm believer in month-long (or longer) challenges or creative projects as they have helped me establish a sustainable creative practice and regularly push me to try new things or deepen my block printing and pattern design skills.
