Marieke Evers

A writer exploring the world of watercolors.

Hi, I'm Marieke from The Netherlands. I studied architecture and I certainly liked to do the design part of it, but in the end I graduated on sustainable use of the built environment. I had two jobs in that field, realizing new school buildings and renovating existing ones. In between those jobs I’ve lived in Sydney, Australia, for a while. That’s when I started writing for children. I simply love how I can create worlds with words and take readers on an adventure with me, although the amount of readers is still quite limited. It’s a big dream to publish my first (and second and so on) book.
Earlier this year I took a broad course on (the process of creating an) illustration, which I thoroughly enjoyed and now I cannot imagine a life without watercolors. I’ve got plenty of ideas in which I want to combine words with watercolors, but first I want to learn and create more every day.
