This was a great beginner course for graphite’s as I was fumbling around with them but did not know there uses and applications. Sarah did a great job tutoring me through the process and I really enjoyed it.
Hoping to attempt a portrait today and use the grid method.

This is a fantastic course! Sarah Stokes is an expert at imparting her knowledge in a friendly and positive manner. I’ve learned so much about charcoal portrait drawing, a media which had previously intimidated me. I can’t wait to learn more!

This is an excellent course by Sarah. I would highly recommend it, especially to people who have taken some beginning drawing courses and would like to take their art to the next level. I had only learned to draw photorealistically. I wanted to be able to draw more artistically, but had no idea how to do it. Sarah's course really did take me to the next level and taught me how to approcah my drawing differently. I was very happy with my course project and look forward to creating new art!

I am enjoying the course very much. I have completed only 2nd unit, so I am rather new with the course, but I have already used the techniques presented by Sarah Stokes which has improved my drawing skills.

The course offered by Sarah Stokes allowed me to learn the most basic and also creative techniques using charcoal. The course is well structured, the explanations are clear and beginner-friendly. The final project surprised me a lot, since I have learned.a lot bringing my drawing to the next level.

I loved everything about this class. I appreciated that Sarah shared with us those who inspired her in her art. I liked how she explained the different materials that Charcoal artists may use (and how to use them). All the tonal value information was incredibly useful, as were the step by step directions for applying and blending charcoal. I learned a lot, and loved that I could proceed at my own pace. Great class.

Absolutely brilliant course. Sarah explains everything so clearly and is extremely attentive and encouraging. I was amazed at how much I was able to learn.

Just started this course but great so far, really straight forward and very concise explanations.

Loved this course, already working as an artist mainly in pastels and wanted to refresh with charcoal as I haven’t used it for a while. Picked up a few tips, love the gridded printed photo ref ( why didn’t I think of that). Also great ref site recommended. Overall a really good course for seasoned artists and beginners.
