My project for course: Modern Headshot Photography: Capture Profound Portraits

I really enjoyed this course for the technical insights and seeing Phil at work, but especially for his philosophy and outlook on photographing people. I've photographed people in studio for a long time now but have resisted the term "headshots" as something that feels too stiff, formulaic, and kind of, I dunno, frivolous. I really appreciated Phil's explanation of headshots versus portraits, and how there's plenty of room within the "headshot" realm to bend the rules, try new things, and create photos with real feeling that communicate something about the subject––something more than just a smiling snapshot clipped to a casting agent's board.

I feel he really articulated something I've felt for a while but wasn't able to myself. And I picked up a ton of great tips and knowledge in the process. Thanks for the great course, Phil!
