Highly I'll hold it, my honor!
This is my place
This is my country
Beloved country, my one country...
The best is near, I hear
I'm holding my wings close
Everything is going to be well soon
We'll be peaceful, free people!
These are the words to the song "Jak ty?" (How are you?) by the Belarusian singer PALINA.
I’ve been living in Krakow for several years, but I was born and raised in Belarus. The song reminded me of my roots, my home, and relatives. As a child, I spent every summer in a village and often went to the forest with my grandmother. So, I’ve tried to depict my own memories about textures, plants and woodland atmosphere. It’s also symbolic for me especially after the Belarusian protests of 2020-2021. The events that occurred really affected me. I cried with bitterness and felt powerless to help.
With this scarf design I wanted to remind individuals of their core beliefs, aspirations and favorite memories related to their homeland.
Catalina Estrada Uribe thank you so much for this course!
"Cornflowers and storks" is the design from which I started working on the project
