Free download: typographic anatomy to understand every part of a letter

Free Download: Essential Typographic Anatomy Guide Typography is everywhere, but we don't always look at it carefully. That's why today we bring you a free download: a practical PDF that collects the names of the different parts of letters and their typographic elements, intended as a clear and accessible guide. Knowing the typographic anatomy is essential for designers, creatives and anyone who works with text. Understanding how letters are constructed not only improves the visual output, but also the way you make design decisions. This resource connects with the learning from the course Fundamentals of Typography: from A to Z, where these concepts are explored in depth from a theoretical and practical perspective. What is typographic anatomy and why does it matter. Typographic anatomy refers to the internal structure of letters: each character has specific parts with their own names. Just as in the human body, these parts fulfill specific functions and determine the way we perceive each typeface. Understanding this terminology allows you to talk about typography with precision, analyze fonts with greater criteria and make more informed decisions. Choosing a typeface by intuition is not the same as choosing it by understanding its construction. Moreover, this knowledge directly influences the visual composition. Knowing how typographic elements work helps you improve legibility, balance texts and create clearer hierarchies. What's included in this free download This PDF is designed as a visual quick reference tool. It includes a clear review of the names of the different parts of the letters and their typographic forms. Among the concepts you will find are: - Shaft, arm and slash. - Eye and counterform. - Serif or finial Serif or finial Serif or serif - Height x - Ascenders and descenders Ascenders and descenders Ascender and descenders Rather than memorizing all these terms at once, the idea is that you can have them at hand while working. In this way, you will gradually incorporate the typographic language in a natural way.

Job board terms & rules

  • Complete every field in the form. Don't use all caps to write phrases, titles, or descriptions. Using all caps online looks like you're shouting.
  • Describe exactly what you're looking for. Confusing offers, with few details or that are too generic won't be accepted. You don't have to write a novel, but the more relevant information you include, the better.
  • We can't accept anonymous offers, so you must include the name of your company (or your full name, if it's a personal offer).
  • In the How to apply section, you must include a professional email that matches your website or company. We don't accept commercial domains or contact forms.
  • We only post offers from companies that offer jobs with an immediate start. If you're looking for vendors, collaborators for future jobs, or partners, use the Collaborations section.
  • We reserve the right not to post any offer we consider not suitable for the Jobs section, even when they comply with these rules.
  • Complete your profile including details related to your activity, career, etc. Don't forget to add an image that identifies you, like your photo or your company's logo. A complete profile makes your job offer more trustworthy.
  • Common sense. The offered payment has to match the relevant requirements, so try to be fair. If we see an offer that isn't, we won't be able to post it.
  • Before posting the same offer at a later date, you must allow at least 15 days, or it won't be accepted. Even if the original offer has been deleted or closed, you have to wait that period of time before you submit another one.
  • If you want to share an office, use the Coworking space section.
  • We don't post on-site freelance offers. If you want to post a freelance offer, it must be remote so we can accept it.
  • We only post job offers from recruiters when a specific position is offered and the name of the hiring company is included. Without this information, we can't post the offer.
  • For internship and scholarship offers, you must specify the income the candidate will receive. It must be in line with the requirements and schedule.
  • Commissioned work without a salary is considered Collaborations and must, therefore, appear in that section.
  • Discriminatory offers (age, gender, etc.) are illegal and a compelling reason to cancel the account, so please try not to post such offers.
  • You can edit your offer while under review. Once it's posted, you'll have to contact us to make changes. You'll be able to close it or delete it anytime directly from your profile.
