I'll show you my recipe for a high-contrast, bleach pass effect. This is how I do it. This is "Saving Private Ryan". They used a physical bleach bypass when developing the prints. You can see there's very high contrast. The darks are very dark, the brights, very bright, quite desaturated. See how bright the brights are here and how dark the darks.
