We start photographing
It is time to move from paper to photography, from words and sketches - from the idea, in short - to the images that, connecting with each other, will tell us a story.
-
Preparing the session: locations, props and styling
Once you are clear about what you want to tell and have made the previous sketches, it is important to determine what you need to start developing your photographic series.
I will tell you about the importance of location in narrative photography and I will give you tricks to take advantage of simple locations that we have within our reach. I will also show you some of my sets of photography low cost . Also, I will show you what elements I have chosen for my session and how each of them will work within the narrative series. You will see that everything I use in my photographs is very easy to achieve, and that I always try to get the most out of the objects around me and my own wardrobe.

The photo shoot: behind the camera
The time has come to take our photographs. I will show you how I prepare the session and how I mount the tripod and look for different frames for the images. I will start taking the photographs guided by my previous sketches, although sometimes during a session magic happens and unpredictable and wonderful photographs appear.
-
The photo shoot: in front of the camera
Sometimes the photographs ask us to be part of them. During the session, I myself will appear in the photographs as a lurking and ghostly figure. I will show you how I work when I cannot look through the viewfinder and how I integrate with the model as if it were just another element of the action. I'll also give tricks to make it easy to shoot the camera when we can't see what we're doing. You will see that it is much simpler than it seems!

Prepare your photo shoot Practice exercise 3.1
It's time to decide how you are going to build your photo series. Find locations, models, costumes and those elements you need to be able to narrate through your photographs. Remember that, many times, in our environment we can find fantastic locations, you just have to observe well! And with the props and the wardrobe the same thing happens: a flower pot, your grandmother's dishes, candles for when the electricity goes out… I am sure that in your house there are a lot of treasures with which you can build your photos, share in the forum the objects you have chosen!
-
Start your photo shoot Practice exercise 3.2
Now comes the funniest. When everything is ready, it is time to transfer those sketches that you had made to your photographs. Try different frames, play with the elements, study your models and guide them to convey what you want to tell. In other words, grab the camera, go shoot!
