Hi, my name is Leah, I live in Sykesville Maryland with my husband, Joe, and our adorable black cat, Sparky. Art, nature, animals, vintage and antique collectibles, jewelry (old and new), reading and sunsets are just a few things that make my heart full. In my spare time I also enjoy spending time with my family, learning, crafting, long walks in nature, and tending to my many plants both inside and outside my home.
Throughout my life art has been my foundation for happiness and self-care. I began exploring my creativity when I was fairly young and Ive continued to enrich my life exploring multiple artistic mediums. Photography, drawing, jewelry design (beaded, wire wrapping, silverware jewelry and metal smithing jewelry), floral design (silk arrangements and dried floral arrangements) have been a few areas of art Ive grown to love. However it wasn't until 2018 when I discovered macramé on Pinterest, shortly after I knew I had found my creative calling. Now, 9 years later, I am the macrame artist behind Free Spirit Fiber Art, a small business centered around my love for creating macramé home decor and accessories. My work can be viewed on Facebook and Instagram.
While my passion for macramé still lies deep in my heart, in 2020 my life took a sudden turn when my mother's health began to fail. Since that point I have taken a step back from my passion for creating to support my mom as her caregiver and health advocate. However, through this change I've realized the importance of finding balance between life's unexpected twists and turns and what keeps me centered and a peace- art. Although most of my time these days is devoted to my mom's needs and managing my home life, I still find some time to express my creativity.
