I like the course!

This is a great process oriented course on painting an urban scene in gouache. Tommy breaks down his unique painting process into four steps: sketching the major shapes, doing a value study, choosing a color scheme and finally painting your scene. This is something I will practice as I develop my urban painting skills. Thank you, Tommy!

It was a great course! Tommy explains the process and thoughts behind each decision he was making for the painting and that was very informative. I have been following his work and so I knew I would take this course. It did not disappoint.. Hopefully he will do another painting course.

I’m not used to using gouache as a medium and just recently got a Himi gouache set which was just waiting to be used. The demonstrations shown in this class were really helpful in understanding how gouache works.

This course is great for all levels of artists. Tommy breaks down the information in easy to understand steps. This course will instruct artists on how to use gouache and also give instruction on how to create better paintings by doing preliminary sketches.

I thought, this would be just a simple course about how to use gouache since I got mine just few days ago. So, I was looking for a course with basic information & some basic tasks to warm up but I learned so much. I‘m so thankful for Tommy for sharing his knowledge about planing, colors & how they affect the painting. I would love to take another course by Tommy.

Excellent introduction to gouache painting. Helps the watercolor painter understand the difference between WC and gouache such as blocking in and using opaque top layers over an underpainting.

the course taught me the importance of careful planning on values and sketchbook trial which will enable quick agile painting with the fan brush. Thanks for the solid foundation

I really enjoyed this course. Clear instruction, clear explanations, helpful demonstrations. A little disappointed with the camera angles and over-editing. Also it would be helpful to see the reference photo and mixed paint palette to better understand the process. Apart from technical details, there is great value in this course. Tommy Kim is an excellent instructor, and I would happily take any course he puts out.
