Light & Shadow: The Character Contest

Calling all illustrators! Domestika invites you to create a captivating character and compete for a $500 grand prize, inspired by one of two epic themes:

- **The Bright Side**: Design a cheerful, friendly character radiating positivity, joy, and warmth - someone you'd want as a friend, guide, or hero.

- **The Dark Side**: Unleash a shadowy, menacing character exuding mystery, danger, and intrigue - the quintessential villain of the story.

1. **Character Concept**:

- Describe your character, their story, and what makes them bright or dark.

2. **Creative Process**:

- Share **references** (mood boards, palettes, shapes) and **initial sketches** showing idea development.

3. **Character Profile**:

- Answer: *Who is your character?* (e.g., hero, villain) and *Why are they this way?* (background, motives).

4. **Tools Used**:

- List software or traditional tools (e.g., pencils, markers, paints) used.

5. **Character Card**:

- Showcase at least **4 poses** to highlight personality and versatility.

6. **Final Illustration**:

- Submit a polished piece with your character in a dynamic or storytelling pose.

Ensure your submission captures your character's essence and stands out!

1.**Creation Process (50%)**

- Clear concept, strong references, and tool usage. - Well-documented process and thoughtful answers to: Who is your character? and Why are they this way?

2. **End Solution (50%)**

- Original, creative design with high-quality illustration (composition, details, color). - **Character card** with at least **4 poses** showing versatility.

Both process and final result are equally important in judging.

The contest is organized by DOMESTIKA, INC and will run from: 20th of December 2024 (UTC) till the end of 20th of January 2025 (UTC).

Participation is open to individuals registered on Domestika and who meet any additional eligibility requirements outlined in the Terms and Conditions. Participation is void where prohibited by law. The contest may be declared void if the total number of participants is fewer than twenty-five (25). By entering the contest, participants agree to be bound by the rules and guidelines outlined in the Terms and Conditions, as well as all applicable laws and regulations. These rules are final and binding in all matters related to the contest.
