My project for course: Creating Garments Using Crochet

I had such fun with this project! I have only ever crocheted one other garment in my 50 years of this craft - and that was a cardigan some 40 years ago... so it was a challenge to again do a garment. I loved the side-to-side method and very quickly realised that by adjusting the stitching slightly, one could have a fully reversible item.

Thus, on the odd rows, I used the back (third) loop as per the pattern, but on the even rows, I opted for the middle (second) loop of the "half-half" dc (a new stitch to me). This created a distinct 'right' and 'wrong' side to the fabric. The last two photos in my series show that 'wrong' side.

I also opted to work the contrasting colour differently, mainly because I am a bit averse to chevrons! I am very pleased with how it came out.

My neckline could have been a bit tidier and I do need practice at the seaming, but overall this was a grand first attempt and I will be proud to wear the sweater out and about! As you see, I also created a headband utilising the same stitching pattern. I see scope to work this pattern many different ways, so will definitely be making more. YAM xx
