It was a challenge for me to break away from my photographic, precise drawing style which kept emerging in the exercises but wet on wet watercolour turned the project around and I really enjoyed doing this final piece. I also used paper towel blotting and coloured pencil details such as the veins of the leaves drawn into the wet paint. I'll definitely be painting more leaves - I've found my latest muse.

What a spectacular composition and colour palette! Very well observed, but with your own thoughtful additions of pattern and line work to complement the leaf shapes. I’m so glad you found your way through wet on wet and I hope your muse continues to inspire! Well done, and best wishes. Laura
I like the transparent quality of Auriel's piece of work reminding me of wet leaves having been blown by a gust of autumn wind and sticking them to a window. The colour range is perfectly autumnal and beautiful. And I love the shapes and the arrangement whereby all the larger leaves appear to be crowding around the smaller bronze leaf with the short stem positioned to the lower right of the picture, inspiring me to believe that it was the first leaf to hit the pane of glass. What a beautiful narrative.
@jadzea thank you so much! I finally felt comfortable with leaves as the subject matter after a lot of false starts with shells, garden birds and apples.
Good decision. I think your piece is really lovely.
