Pom-Pom Design and Creation course project

I took Christine Leech's course "PomPom Design and Creation" in January 2021. It was a blast. Christine's an excellent teacher and so talented. I esp appreciate that she provided a lot of extra context and important materials that I can use for future reference.

For my project, I wanted to create a wreath that used juxtaposed vibrant colors with muted neutrals and that all colors would be on-trend.

The coral color in this wreath, especially, makes me really happy.

For me, making pompoms has gone beyond the fun and the art of it. It has now become a daily ritual in my life. As with many fellow artists, I suffer from anxiety disorder. Working with soft, snuggly yarn feels much like petting a cat or dog. And the concentration it takes to trim a perfect sphere distracts the mind into a calming and creative space of color, texture, and design. I primarily make jewelry, but this craft is quickly gaining a soft spot in my heart (pun intended).
