Gutti Mendes

Hello, I'm Gutti Mendes. I'm a musician, singer, composer, music producer, guitar teacher, and workshop leader born in Juiz de Fora (Minas Gerais, Brazil). I've been flirting with music for many years, and in the early 1980s, I enjoyed film soundtracks and children's TV shows. In 1991, I joined my first band as a guitarist in tribute to the Beatles, and in 1994, at the age of 18, I decided to pursue a career in music. I studied privately with some teachers from my hometown and, in 2003, I joined the trio Lúdica Música!
With the band to date, I've recorded six albums, three audiovisuals, and participated in several projects with other artists, including Milton Nascimento, Ivan Lins, Chico Buarque, André Abujamra, Vander Lee, Carlinhos Vergueiro, and others. We've toured extensively in Brazil and Europe, have had a rhythm workshop project since 2006, and were recently finalists on The Voice in Portugal, where we've lived since 2019.
Currently, in addition to the collective "Clérigos - Vem com a banda passar" (Clérigos - Come with the band to pass), led by the trio in partnership with the CCD Porto, I teach guitar and bass at the "Eu Danço" school in Senhora da Hora (Matosinhos). In early 2025, I was invited by Casa da Música (where I trained) to be one of the leaders of the "Mundi" project, aimed at all immigrants in the city of Porto.
