I actually loved this course. There are some odd language translation things going on from time to time but the quality of the course overrides it.

I love to see such an experimented artist explaining each step in his painting, you can take a cup of coffee and watch the entire course and you are going to learn a lot, and more if you never paint with oil before like me. I enjoy this course a lot!

Excellent course! I had been looking for a course in expressive portrait painting and am so glad I found this one. Tor is a gifted teacher. He is very conscious of what the student needs and carefully guides us through the painting process. He's very calm and relaxed, affirming, reminds us that mistakes are a good thing, and he adds humor to his teaching. Not an easy feat to do all of these things in an online course! Excellent course. Really teaches you in depth about being more expressive with oil painting. I am not a beginner in oil painting, but I still learned a lot. Especially about being more colorful, more expressive and not to be afraid of making mistakes.

I like Torsten's method of destroying and rebuilding. And also his continuous emphasis of avoiding painting the boundaries upfront thus avoiding oneself to be helmed in. He paints loosely, and uses his strokes to provide hints of the details but not painting the details itself. A truly contemporary approach to portraiture. Excellent course. Five Stars !

The instructor explains very well how to use oil paints. He shows step by step how to paint a portrait. Everything is explained very clearly. He demonstrates his own painting method. Great course!

Took course to try to loosen my style and I liked the look of Wolken’s finished work. Great instruction although some of the translation comments didn’t make sense. Towards the end of the course, it got mind-numbing by showing every detail Wolken made until he felt it was finished; details that could have been explained showing before/after results rather than forcing me to watch each minute change.

Als Kunsttherapeutin habe ich viel Erfahrung im kreativen Arbeiten, aber Ölmalerei war für mich Neuland. Der Kurs hat mich genau da abgeholt, wo ich stand: klar strukturiert, ohne unnötige Längen und gleichzeitig voller Inspiration. Besonders gefallen hat mir, dass ich ein Urlaubsfoto so umsetzen konnte, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte - realtistisch, aber mit einem Hauch Abstraktion. Der Kurs hat nicht nur Techniken vermittelt, sondern vor allem auch Lust aufs Malen gemacht.
