Learn what infographics are and what they're used for, as well as how they've evolved over time and current trends. Fernando then explains how he approaches the design process and teaches you some of the basic concepts, including how to play with volume and perspective.
Once you understand the fundamentals, start working on your final project. Research a topic you're interested in, define the concept, and draw some preliminary sketches. See how to arrange the elements for a balanced composition, directing the reader's attention with visual order, and achieve the desired impact.
Move on to designing the main image for your infographic, using pencil, modeling clay, or the medium of your choice, followed by secondary elements and the background. Transfer your work to the computer, touch it up in Photoshop or Illustrator, and arrange all the components to create your infographic.
Finally, Fernando shares the techniques he used for his project, specifically illustration and sculpture, and encourages you to experiment with alternatives, not only to explore other forms of expression, but also to have fun creating infographics!
