Alanie Botha-Austin

I am a graphic designer, entrepeneur and artist based in Centurion, South Africa. I also own a preschool for babies and toddlers.

I studied and completed my BA Degree in Visual Communication at the Open Window School of Visual Communication in 2005. My subjects were Art History, Communication Design, Web Design, 3D Animation, Illustration and Photography.

I have been working actively in the advertising industry since 2003 and have over 19 years experience in the field. I specialise in Graphic Design, Brand Development, Print Design, Web and Digital Design, Marketing, Event Stationery and Signage.

I worked as a graphic designer for CPD Print, Blue Planet Advertising and Salt and Pepper Marketing from 2002 to 2005. In 2006 I started my own company, N’abba Promotions (in 2020 I changed the name to Graphic Design Genie).

From 2010 until 2016 I also worked with Rallystar Driving Experiences, where I managed the entire business, bookings, admin, marketing and public relations. I was involved in managing various corporate team building and national motorsport events, such as the Toyota Gauteng National Rally Championship.

In 2017 I functioned as part of the management team of the Arnold Classic Africa Expo, that was held at the Sandton Convention Centre, where I was mainly responsible for managing the entire team of volunteers working at the event, assisted with setup and management of main stage events. I also attended the official opening of the event on stage with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In 2018 my husband and myself opened a preschool.

In 2020 I for the first time in years decided I need to pick up my art brushes and bring life to my art again, which I enjoyed immensely. I experimented mostly with watercolouring and pencil since then. I am currently trying to expand the media that I use for art and hoping to do art and illustration on a full time basis.
