Épica is a contemporary interpretation of Venetian Renaissance typefaces, conceived as a new alternative for text composition in long-read publications. It offers great versatility to solve different composition requirements through its typographic program, which started from a search for stylistic and functional balance. Among its most representative features is the visual richness of each of its letters, which must be perfectly read at small sizes, while exhibiting great beauty in display applications. Its shapes include some calligraphic reminiscences characteristic of classic typefaces, however, its medium contrast and serif weight give it a contemporary appearance.
Epica serif is complemented by a sans version, which expands its range of applications to newspapers and magazines with other editorial requirements. The two families become a versatile tool for editorial designers. Each font in this sans and serif family has nearly 500 characters, including small caps, contextual and discretionary ligatures, fractions, and a set of numerals for different uses; all with OpenType features. They also support more than 50 Latin alphabet languages thanks to their extensive set of diacritics.
Epica is a family with great potential for editorial uses. Graphically, it has a very strong personality; it is the perfect combination of the elegance of old-fashioned typefaces and the impact of contemporary typefaces.
