Title: MoodSynth by Desperados
Client: Desperados
Agency: Dreamfactory
Studio: WeSense - Tech & Art
In 2015, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Dreamfactory and WeSense to create a unique sensory and technological experience for the beer brand Desperados during the Sonar+D event in São Paulo. As the official sponsor of the event, Desperados sought to promote its brand through an innovative and engaging experience.
Together with the team, we decided to use Desperados longneck bottles to control sound, light, and projection in the room. The result was the "MoodSynth," an interactive audiovisual table that allowed event attendees to use the bottles as sound and light controllers, altering the sounds and projections in the room.
Each bottle was associated with a combination of sounds and graphics, and users could control the environment in an interactive game with the bottles. To share the experience with friends, participants entered their cell phone number and received a video of the first 15 seconds of the action.
The project was created by graphic designer and video artist Julio Parente, and I provided technology and experience direction. We used Arduino microcontrollers, mechanical systems, projection mapping, sound control, and WhatsApp integration, as well as DMX-controlled software, to ensure the experience's success.
As a result, MoodSynth delivered an immersive and thought-provoking experience for audiences, increasing the reach of the Desperados brand and highlighting its association with creativity and technology in the context of Sonar+D, an international event focused on the intersection of art, science and digital culture.
