Hello from Vancouver Island, Canada. I’m Jackie and, since retirement, I’ve been exploring various avenues in the world of art. Some things have excited me a lot, others have been good but not great. I’m not sure if that’s because I don’t have the skills yet or that certain things just aren’t for me. When I look at charcoal, it intrigues me, I love the black and white and all the shades in between. And yet, I adore colour. So who knows? I have lots to learn and I’m motivated to learn. I’ve been drawing with graphite and now want to take the next step to charcoal. I’ve been avoiding it because it looks messy! I’d like to learn how to be brave and just draw that huge black swath across that girl’s face in Sarah’s last picture, to think outside the box and be excited by what I’m doing.
