Tracy Hughes

As an artist my passion is capturing character filled birds and wildlife in a contemporary, luminous, expressive style.
My often cheeky subjects are painted with a mix of highly detailed features and loose fast strokes to give the watercolour energy and interest.
The signature look in my paintings can be seen in the application of salt texture, carefully placed water blooms and layers of transparent glazes in vibrant colours to create light, texture and depth.
Much of my art draws inspiration from the prolific birdlife on our Ridge Retreat property here in the Port Macquarie Hinterland and my talented husband Roger Fance who is an internationally exhibited bird photographer:
To be painting, immersed in nature listening to our feathered friends from my art room overlooking the treetops and mountains is magical; a quality I strive to convey in my art.
A large selection of my work is featured at the Rivermark Café, Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie with over 30 framed paintings decorating the walls for sale as mounted prints and greeting cards.
