Rachel Codd

hi, I'm Rachel and I am from Scotland. I studied Illustration and Design and worked freelance for sometime before taking a job in an academic library when I became a mum. I worked there for over a decade then left during the pandemic to go and study interior architecture. I had always had an awareness and sensitivity to my surroundings and grew up with practical and creative parents who renovated, fixed and adapted our homes as we grew. Very much of a "make-do-and-mend" ethos, this has now fed into my interest in sustainable design. Wishing to explore more than the decorative aspects of interior design I chose a course in Interior Architecture as it gives me more scope to make changes and improvements to a space that will support the wellbeing of its inhabitants.

I have found so far in my course that my skills as an illustrator are useful in the development of concepts and having worked freelance, I understand how vital it is to ask both the big and the small questions in order to grasp what a client might want. No question is a stupid question, and no answer is wrong! Furthermore, a decade of library practice has given me great searching skills so I know where and how to find a broad range of resources and inspiration.

I now work freelance as well as for a company who design and build exhibitions, museum shows etc.
