I started out as a translator first and became an accidental copywriter after the agency I was freelancing for asked if I could write. Up till then, I never wrote professionally before. Sure, I wrote some articles & scripts in school but never thought much about becoming a writer or copywriter. Yup, typical Asian family where the preferred careers are doctors, engineers, accountant and the like...you know, professionals who are supposed to be stable and bring in lotsa money. Funnily, I ended up starting off as a flight attendant with our national airlines which ironically, gave me some time to complete my professional degree. Then, I worked in the pet industry after my flying days were over, before taking a leap of faith of sorts by starting my own little translation (and later on writing & copywriting) business while juggling motherhood.
Fast forward to 2014, I found my calling. I joined a Buddhist organisation as a copywriter. I got to do the 2 things I love - to become a student of my amazing spiritual guide (H.E. Tsem Rinpoche) and WRITE! Today, I write for vajrasecrets.com, an online store specialising in blessed holy items, spiritual services & Buddhist practice supplies. I also write for various campaigns for our organisation (both digital & print) and the occasional article for my teacher's blog (tsemrinpoche.com) and our organisation's websites (kechara.com & kecharaforestretreat.com).
