I have recently started an art journal/sketchbook as a stress release and creative outlet. I find it relaxes me and provides respite/takes my mind off my dad's deteriorating health and my own issues. I have been experimenting with drawing figuratively as well as abstract and am starting to play with watercolour. I have always been quite artistic/creative, and I have gotten into dance quite heavily over the past 3 years also. Sometimes I draw or create something I really like, but the next attempt will often look like an infant made it (and not in a good way!), so I would like to learn technique and become more skillful so I can more consistently create pieces I enjoy and am proud of. I have recently been diagnosed as autistic and am heavily into details that other people might easily overlook, e.g. I take lots of close-up photos on my phone of things like mosses, tiny plants, lichen and droplets of water on plants in the sunshine. I am inspired by nature and my daughter (who is 7 and a brilliant drawer!), and find beauty in unusual places (like the many colours of peeling paint and mosses on a cracked wall or the perfection of minoscule 'weeds' growing in the cracks of the pavement).
