Sabine Ricard

I recently completed my undergrad with a BSc in Psychology and a BA Art History & Visual Studies, and will be completing a MA in AHVS.
In my free time I host a weekly radio program at CFUV 101.9 FM called The Fiji Mermaid, as well as I create experimental music and film. I have over time discovered that so much of my creative pursuits are very inspired and influenced by my academic studies.
I enjoy researching topics in Psychology or Art History and Visual Studies I cannot help but approach them in an interdisciplinary manner, but regardless of the approach, the opportunity to discover new insights is what excites me the most. A beloved professor once told me “Research is a Creative Process”, and the more I practice it the more I appreciate this statement.
Embroidery has been a constant in my life since I was a little girl, even though I was never very skilled at it. I often carry a small unfinished embroidery of cross stitch project in my purse because I like to work on it the same way someone will read a book or write in their journal. I have often thought of embroidery as painting with thread.
