1) experimenting with blue pencil only (see full description of the process below)

2) Adding the hand. Blue representing the cracks.

3) Gold (light) comes through the cracks. I applied Kintsugi concept to makeup.

4) Another picture of Kintsugi concept applied to self-portrait.

Concept and process:

1) Moodboard (not added here): I chose around 10 pictures with make-up in the form of wavy, round and straight lines across the face. Later, after the step 2, I added also the pictures of kintsugi bowl in blue and gold.

2) First, I started experimenting with make up on my face with only blue pencil. See pictures one and two. On the second pictures I added also my hand. Blue lines reminded me of cracks, cracks that are like lines that mark your face and hands when you grow older. They represent the moments or events in life that marked me. I primarily chose blue because I like it. Then I added gold lines (see pictures three and four). That's how I got the idea to use kintsugi concept. Gold is light coming through the cracks. My makeup is highlighting the imperfections or brokenness with blue and mending them with gold.

3) I didn't use any props this first time. I got focused on the idea to show on my face what is not visible on my skin and look at it.
