Flying Scotsman: My project for course: Introduction to Photorealism for Oil Painting

I dont live in the city so decided not to go for the street scene. Maybe the image was a little bit too technical, it required lots of drawing and detailed painting that took me far longer than I expected. The canvas was 12x12 inch, any smaller and I wouldn't have been able to paint as much detail.
I started of disciplined to work from the top right as I'm left handed, but soon got distracted by the figures. This meant I kept having to wait for drying time. Couldn’t quiet master the hand support nor the straight line painting.
I felt that a lot of the paint was very thinly applied and I could see the ground through it so I ended up painting a lot of areas twice to cover it up.
