My first tufted rug

Hello!

I've just finished my second course, which was Tufting Technique for Creating Rugs by Guillaume (Atelier Apolo), and it was amazing!

I bought a tuft gun at the end of the last year and this course helped me go throught the whole process, started with different techniques, next how to work with gun to how to do final touches in my rug.

Here you can see my illustration I did a few months ago, when I finally get into the magic of Procreate. My inspiration on this art comes from my feelings and knowledge I have from books about feminism and this topic overall. And it's unusual and interesting shape to start with!

In these pics it's canvas frame, made by my boyfriend, who is really supportive and want to help me in every way to grow my creativity and myself generally. As a canvas I used burlap fabric, because that's only one I got from my local stores, but still I gonna still looking for something better, but for now - for my beginning - it's enought.

Next part is to make a linear version of my illustration and via projector to redrawn to canvas.

And I started tufting! I started with beige and made female, which for the first time looked like chicken legs, but when I started to add more and more layers, it has begun to look better. I had quite a work with the female to look like she is a human being, but I'm quite glad how it turns out at the end.

After I finished tufting, I cut the extra yarn and glued canvas at the back of the rug and kept it for a day to let dry. After that I glued ends to the back, kept it about an hour and then glued fabric strap on it. Again, kept it a day to dry and got ready for the last step, which was cutting the extra yarn at the same lenght and make it clean.

And this is the final result!
It's not detailed as an illustration, the boobs are almost invisible and waves around the body is also missing, but I'm really glad how it turns out, as my first rug it isn't so bad at all!
