My project in Hand-Drawn Digital Animation: Bring Illustrations to Life course

Hello, here is my final project.

I inadvertently made the animation much less explosive than the example. The bird just sort of curls up rather than swirling outwards. Although I did this without realising, I quite like the result - I think the subtle movements suit the simple imagery. However, I would like to retry with different shapes, styles and animation paths. I would also like to try adding some additional scenes to the animation. For instance, the bird flying, or the golden ball/sun being picked up and placed into a hand.

The most difficult part of the project for me was translating the research images from the mood board into an original design. I tried a number of different colours, shapes and patterns but I didn't manage to settle on anything that I felt completely happy with. I've never really made an illustration before, so I imagine that getting to this point just takes time and experience.
