The founder Flora Leung is a designer who embodies eras of classic creativity. After graduating from the department of visual communication in 2004, her career has seen her swim the pools of creative influence in the worlds of graphic design, art direction, advertising and accessory design. Her inspiration was sparked by the humble handbag—a symbol of design finesse and possibility—and at the age of 21 she opened a vintage handbag store, part-gallery-part-celebration of designs that endure through generations. Flora earned her second degree for Cordwainers Accessory Design at the London College of Fashion in 2012. Armed with fresh, sharp and impactful design ideas, Flora founded her own lifestyle label, Matter Matters, in 2013. Her unique way of working—she sketches geometric designs using 3D blocks and models—has been the foundation of the brand, which takes cues from Art Deco, Memphis Milano and Bauhaus movements to use shapes in unexpected ways across jewellery, handbags and clothing pieces. With her creative spirit and sense of humour, she continues to push her creative limits, while uniting fine art and functionality in fun, easy-to-wear pieces that elevate individuality. She also represents designer, stylists and art directors.
