My name is Kit and I’m from Edinburgh, Scotland.
I have always enjoyed working with my hands. Leaving school in 2013, I went on to study art for a few years. I have to say I wasn’t very focussed during that period of my life and I ended up leaving education to enter into full time work instead. Having worked in hospitality since then, cooking became my new creative outlet but two years ago I decided to have a change of career.
I left my job to work in a building and joinery workshop, firstly as a labourer and now as a first year joinery apprentice specialising in architectural joinery. At work we make a variety of furniture, windows and doors and anything else you would expect to find making up a home. I know my end goal is to become a furniture designer and maker and I am very focussed on getting there. My first and main goal this year is to learn how to make things properly, efficiently, to a high standard and to understand why things are done in a certain way. My second goal is to really start thinking more like a designer and that is what i hope to gain from this course.
