Erica Siegel

I am a wildlife photographer specialising in native solitary bees and birds. As a child and young adult I used to love drawing .but after getting married and having children there was no time for painting. Then in my retirement I went back to art classes with Philip Farley, painting birds in water colour. Amazingly the Yellow Honeyeater I entered in the Yurara Art Group exhibition sold, my first sale! Then 10 years ago I found blue-banded bees roosting in my garden and that started me in photography and left no time for painting. Many of my bee photos have been published in various books, magazines, newsletter and posters. One even made it into the BBC Wildlife magazine. But now I think it is time I went back to my first love - painting!
