Celine Vautour

I am taking this time to strengthen my knowledge of software and layouts. I have looked through my work for the past 20 years and have come to an understanding that I aim to create fantasy art using several mediums fused together. I absolutely enjoy being multidisciplinary in my approach to projects. I play with cameras as much as I do with needle and thread. I also love video editing.

My history from the late 90's, I have worked in video production. I was working at a music video TV station (MusiquePlus, Montreal, Canada) up until 2004. I then decided to take on an adventure away from the entertainment industry. I opened a thrift shop in Montreal, Quebec. This is where I got acquainted with textiles real closely. Seeing, learning from how random second hand clothing would fit on different people's bodies, I created two collections of apparel that was aimed at stylish comfort and body positivity. I sewed with deadstock fabric from Montreal's textile district and upcycled second hand clothing. I also ran the shop on a bicycle and trolley. Being eco-conscious has been part of my values as an entrepreneur and as an artist throughout these past 15+ years.

In 2008 I closed shop to move back to the east coast of Canada, where I have been making and selling my artisan pieces through shops and markets. Producing primarily masks, dolls, and appliquéd accessories. For many years I have focused on selling to a local economy. I never really sold my products online as it was easier for me to manage selling my products at shops as I was very busy balancing family life.

​Producing from home, while taking on motherhood simultaneously in this pandemic, I have reached a point where I have come to realize it's time to retire from my very long hours making merchandise, selling my work was satisfying for the good part of it, but I need to move on and get reacquainted with video production. This time, I want to integrate my acquired skills from textile art and costume design. Creating more DIY content, and with time, explore the world of fiction.
